| Francisco “Pako” Miguel Sánchez Mera was born in Vejer de la Frontera near Cadiz. He first became interested in photography in 1999 when living in Jerez where he studied Imaging and Sound for three years. Travelling to Central America, he had the opportunity to make a exhibition about Guatemalan women.
Pako worked for several years as a video cameraman for a Portugese firm, travelling around North Africa and exhibiting in Spain. Two years ago Pako received an invitation to work with Corbis in New York.
Pako’s 2009 documentary series Fridge provided a candid exploration of people’s attitudes towards health and well-being, using the domestic refrigerator as metaphor for lifestyle and personality.
Currently living in Edinburgh, Pako is focusing upon studio work and expanding his portfolio.
